Kate assisted at the birth of my second child recently. After an emergency cesaerean under general anaesthetic with my first I was keen to have a different experience with my second, in particular I badly wanted to be conscious if nothing else, as I felt I missed out on the birth of my first son. Kate came away from a family weekend as soon as I was in established labour, although this was four weeks early so she wasn't yet on call. She met us in hospital and was wonderfully calm and supportive, negotiating with the midwives and encourageing me and my husband. I was completely conscious throughout, and had a natural delivery of a lovely healthy little boy. The whole experience was incredible, and very different from my first, and I feel sure that Kate's presence contributed to this. I have already recommended her highly to several pregnant friends.

I was facing some unfamiliar territory and a few health scares and crises regarding the baby. Kate's help in these areas was more than I ever could have expected. Luckily my partner was able to be at the birth also but having a doula there was just as important for him.

Having a doula enhanced the advice and guidance you receive through your midwife without conflicting. The practical advice and support was fantastic and the massage that was recommended for mums-to-be was fabulous. I was lucky to find Kate.
